JEFFERSON - The MANNA Food Pantry is still open during its normal hours and serving residents, says MANNA Food Pantry Director Lorna Westlake.
The MANNA Food Pantry is located inside St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson. Hours are 9-11 a.m. Monday and Friday and 5-7 p.m. the first Wednesday of every month.
“I wanted to get out the word that the MANNA Food Pantry is open during this time of the Stay at Home order,” Westlake said. “This is an essential food service.”
While MANNA welcomed a lot of clients last Monday and Friday, when only two clients were in this past Monday morning, Westlake was concerned that some thought they were closed.
One of the Monday clients told Westlake, “Thank you for doing this. This is a life saver.”
MANNA provides its clients with a variety of food items and also some personal-care items.
As for income requirements, clients have an annual gross income of 200 percent of the federal poverty level or below. They are asked to bring their driver’s license and current utility bill.
“It’s a very generous standard,” Westlake said of the income requirements.
